The Pōneke Company evolved from Pōneke Architects, named after the Māori transliteration of ‘Port Nic,’ a term used by early settlers for Port Nicholson—now Wellington. Established in 2020 by architect Nic Ballara, the practice has quickly built a reputation for excellence in design and collaborative problem-solving across Wellington and other major centres, including Queenstown, Hawkes Bay, Hamilton, and Auckland. Our residential focus spans a wide range of projects, from dense urban brownfield infill developments to rural lifestyle dwellings, ensuring we meet the diverse housing needs of the future.

 

Over the past two years, we have increasingly focused on modular housing to address the growing demand for efficient, adaptable building methods.
